It would have been different in the days when the novels were new, but for those who read a bunch of her novels within a month or something (novels from different time periods), catching on to her little tricks wouldn't be difficult. I've heard a few people on the boards say that, once they've read several of her books, they started to catch on to her patterns and style. She did have a tendency to repeat herself with gimmicks. I think that Agatha Christie was trying to build suspense by including that stuff. The thing is that if it had been left out, the novel would have been quite a bit shorter. He would have known for awhile who "the little killer" is. It's not like they were meeting for the first time and that the doctor would have been shocked at his discovery. I mean, these characters knew each other from their holidays at the Lady's house. Now that I think about it, the doctor would have been a bit more outspoken about this case as well. I kinda thought that the subject would have come up during their argument, and that this could have been another motive for killing her (aside from wanting to frame Audrey Strange). Now Lady Tresillian had been like a mother to this killer.ĭoes anyone else think that their relationship should have been of a different nature, considering what this guy had done in his youth, even though he was cleared of any wrong-doings back in the day? I realize that this story was written during a time where a lot of things weren't talked about, but the death of a child is a pretty extreme situation and now it seems to me that the nature of the relationship between these two characters should have been quite different. Lady Tresillian's killer was the same one who had killed a child when he was a child himself. Something about this story occurred to me for the first time. Just now, I finished the Marple film.first viewing in several years.

I've read it a few times (along with the stage play) and I enjoyed the Marple adaptation, even though she isn't in the book. I love the Agatha Christie novel Towards Zero, far-fetched as it is.
